Toad Lane Concerts and Music at St Mary's

Come and be inspired by some of the finest talent around.

Concerts take place in the iconic Grade 1 Listed St Mary's Church and only cost £4. For a little extra you can have a tasty lunch of pie and peas before hand. Your contribution supports developing talent and the maintenance of this fine building.

There are some changes in the lead up to Christmas at St Mary’s in the Baum. Firstly, the bad news is that this coming Wednesday (29 November) the anticipated Dutch violinist Bernadette Wijnhamer has been called away to an important performance as part of her RNCM Master’s degree programme, we wish her well. The good news is that the Spanish flautist Irene Jiménez Lizcano, also a Master’s degree student, will come instead, playing Debussy’s Prelude a l'apres-midi d'un faun, Boehm’s Grand Polonaise for flute and piano, and Prokofiev’s Sonata in D for flute and piano. She will be accompanied by the outstanding Hong Kong pianist Hector Leung. This will clearly be a magnificent international recital, worthy of the Bridgewater Hall … and at Rochdale prices!

Secondly, please note that we will have two week’s break for Christmas and New Year, i.e. closed 20 and 27 December, re-opening on 4 January with the ‘More than Melody’ Ladies Choir.

Meanwhile, we still have pianist Duncan Glenday on the 6 December and soprano Kay Jordan and friends on 13 December to look forward to!

Thank you for your support so far, may it continue and flourish; have a hugely harmonious Christmas season, and may your blessings be as the fleas on the elk for multitude in the new year.
